Ethiopia Does Not Foresee Impact on Egypt from Renaissance Dam, Open for Discussion

This Voice of America article quotes the Ethiopian Water Minister Alemayehu stating that there are no downstream impacts to Egypt from the recent diversion of the Nile. This diversion was part of the existing schedule of actions involved with developing the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The dam is now at 20% completion. It was at 13% in August 2012, so they are moving right along.

The Minister also states that Ethiopia has no intention to hurt the downstream countries with this project and if Egypt would like to discuss particulars, Ethiopia is open to the discussion.
